Where our data comes from, and what it can't tell you.

A bid decision is only as good as the facts behind it. Here's what we hold, what we work out ourselves, and what we leave as unknown.

Sources

The shared data was last captured on 5 Nov 2026 from the World Bank:

  • Procurement notices. 278 requests for expressions of interest, invitations for bids and general procurement notices for Papua New Guinea.
  • Contract awards. 654 award notices. This only covers World Bank-financed procurement.
  • Project records. 21 projects, used to connect awards with implementing agencies and sectors.

We also captured records from the National Procurement Commission of PNG: 12 tender notices and 8 COVID-19 disclosures. Its website now shows a "Launching soon" page. We're holding these records back, and they aren't shown anywhere, until we've confirmed they can be used.

Workspaces may also see notices a BIDWOK staff member copied by hand from a buyer's own website and checked against it. Those link to the buyer's page and aren't shown as records on the public site, though they count in its totals.

What the data doesn't cover

  • It isn't a complete record of PNG procurement, or a measure of the market.
  • It isn't live. A notice may have changed since it was captured, so always check at the source.
  • Few of the World Bank notices are open at any one time, so it isn't a full feed of tenders yet.
  • We don't hold tender documents, only the notice text.
  • We don't read eligibility requirements for you. You record them from the notice.
  • Awards aren't connected to the notices they came from.
  • Values aren't adjusted for inflation or converted between currencies.

How we label what we show

Every fact carries one of these labels. None of them means a person at BIDWOK has checked the fact by hand.

Linked to source record
Taken from the publisher's data, with a link to this exact record.
Source page only
The source states it, but we can only link to a general page.
Worked out by BIDWOK
We worked it out from published text, such as a status from a closing date.
Added by a workspace
A workspace entered it. Only that workspace can see it unless we've reviewed it.

How we read the notices

Award values, winners and dates are read from notice text by fixed rules, so a mistake is possible. Follow the source link if a figure matters to you.

  • Missing values. A value we can't find is shown as not published. It's never treated as zero. Of 654 awards, 496 have a value.
  • Award dates. Some older notices don't state one. We then show the contract signature date or the date the notice was published, and we say which.
  • Individuals. Many consultants are listed as "Individual Consultant" with no name, and we show that. Where a notice names a person, we show the name as published, with no profile page.
  • Categories. These are our own labels, from keywords in the title and the project's sector. They help you search, and they aren't official.
  • Closing times. Shown in PNG time. World Bank notices give a time without a time zone, so we read it as PNG time and tell you that.
  • Buyers. A notice names a contact organisation, which we show as the buyer. Awards are linked through the project's implementing agencies, which shows a connection. It doesn't prove that agency awarded the contract.

How fit works

Fit follows set rules, and no AI is used. It compares a notice with your profile. It doesn't predict whether you'd win.

  • Category match: 45 points.
  • Region match: 25 points, or 20 for a national notice.
  • Published value inside your range: 15 points.
  • Your capability words appear in the notice: up to 15 points.

If a notice gives no data for a check, that check is left out, and the score tells you how many checks it used. How complete a record is earns nothing. A result of "Ready to bid" only appears when you've recorded the requirements and marked them all as met.

Reports and checks

Reports are built from the notice and your workspace by a fixed template. A check runs five fixed steps and prepares a draft. Neither uses AI. Neither can send anything. A workspace owner or admin approves each report.

Corrections

If a record looks wrong, send us its reference, the source and the correction. We check it against the source. Something a workspace adds can't overwrite a published record. Send a correction
